Our kids tell us how we are to help others. They came up with the idea of a sock drive so that we could give gifts to the men and women who come to our community dinners. They promoted the drive by soliciting contributions from our own community and beyond and we wrapped and distributed more than 150 pairs of warm wool socks at holiday meals. Boots were added to the mix last year as well. One of the guests remarked. "When you give us something, it's like a hand out. But when its wrapped up like this pair of socks, It's a gift."
This year the kids have learned more about the challenges of remote First Nations communities and held a mini bazaar and sale raising more than $2,000 to bring clean water to those who need it.
