New Lecture Series
SMM LECTURE SERIES - Please join us this Tuesday, June 3rd at 6.00 pm in the lounge for the first in our month-long series of guest lectures on various topics. This week's topic is on the Dead Sea Scrolls, presented by Katie Maguire, PhD candidate at the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto. The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of ancient manuscripts consisting of texts from the Hebrew Bible and Jewish sectarian literature. Dating to approximately 100 BC, these are the oldest surviving manuscripts which have even been found of many of the books of the Old Testament. This incredible collection and the remarkable contents of the scrolls themselves has continued to fascinate archaeologists and scholars of biblical literature since their discovery nearly 80 years ago. This talk will also be livestreamed on our YouTube channel at here.
