The Raising of Lazarus for our Sunday School Kids
Mother Johanna retells the story of the Raising of Lazarus for our Sunday School kids!
You can watch the video HERE.
(On 13 March 2020, the Diocese of Toronto suspended all public worship services as part of the effort to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Here at SMM, in this difficult time, we are trying to offer ways of participating in the daily life of our parish, even if we cannot be present physically.)
Feast of the Annunciation - 25 March 2020
Today we celebrate the Feast of the Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, with a small solemn mass, and as much music as we can manage with the limited resources available to us! (We think we did pretty well.)
You can watch the video HERE.
If you want to join us, the leaflet is available HERE.
Our small forces include Mother Johanna celebrating, Father David preaching, Andrew Adair on the Organ, Rob Castle and Simon Walker singing, Nora Lowe and Christian Cameron serving, while Elisabeth Beattie works the camera. Nora and Elisabeth also read. (We are being careful to maintain social distancing, which is why people are standing so far apart.)
At the Offertory, we are bringing up the donations we received during the week. (A big thank you to the kind people who sent in cheques this week!) We are still in need of your support, even if we cannot open our physical doors, and anything you can spare us is gratefully received. If you are not on a Pre-Authorized Giving plan, would you consider signing up? Or giving through Canada Helps?

Lent IV - Eucharist
Today, we celebrate the Fourth Sunday in Lent, also known as Laetare Sunday (from the first word of the introit - “rejoice”).
Our small forces include Father David celebrating, Mother Johanna preaching, Andrew Adair on the Organ, Rob Castle and Simon Walker singing, Phyllis McCurdy and Christian Cameron serving, and Richard Woolrich keeping an eye on things generally, while Elisabeth Beattie works the camera. Christian and Elisabeth also read. (We are being careful to maintain social distancing, which is why people are standing so far apart.)

The Stations of the Cross
Every Friday in Lent, we pray the Stations of the Cross. This meditative pilgrimage is quiet, powerful devotion that brings us into the story of Christ's suffering and death. It was created in the Middle Ages as way for people to walk the Way of the Cross even if they could not physically travel to Jerusalem. In this time when so many of us cannot even travel to our own parish churches, Mother Johanna leads us around the stations so that you can walk with us.

Psalm 23 presented for Children & Youth
We miss our kids! Our Sunday School is closed down along with everything else right now, but we haven't forgotten all our lively, thoughtful, thought-provoking Sunday School kids. This week is "Laetare Sunday" (the fourth Sunday in Lent) and the Psalm of the day is 23, "The Lord is my shepherd". We have put together a little video about Psalm 23, led by Mother Johanna, which we hope will lead to discussion, art, craft, and prayer.
You can find it HERE.

A Meditation on Psalm 130
Our Wednesday Morning Discussion Group meets (as you might imagine) on Wednesday mornings to read and discuss scripture, theology, literature, and other things. At the moment, we are reading the Book of Psalms in Robert Alter's new translation.
This week, as we are unable to meet, Father David offers a meditation on Psalm 130. You can watch HERE.
