Organ Recital "in progress" - "Schmücke dich, o liebe seele" (Johann Sebastian Bach)
Andrew's online organ recital “in progress” continues!
Schmücke dich, o liebe seele by Johann Sebastian Bach, played by Andrew Adair on the Salisbury Cathedral Hauptwerk sample set by Milan Digital Audio.
Johann Sebastian Bach’s (1685-1750) chorale Schmücke dich, o liebe seele (BWV 654) comes from the collection known as the Great eighteen chorales. Assembled by Bach during the last ten years of his life, the collection draws on works he composed during his time as court organist and Konzertmeister in Weimar (1708–1717).
Easter V - Jesus is the Way!
Mother Johanna helps us through one of Jesus's "I am" sayings. What does he mean when he says "I am the the Way, the Truth, and the Life"? And what does that have to do with Mother's Day?
Organ Recital "in progress" - "Praeludium in E minor" Nicolas Bruhns
Andrew's online organ recital “in progress” continues!
Praeludium in E minor by Nicolaus Bruhns, played by Andrew Adair on the Salisbury Cathedral Hauptwerk sample set by Milan Digital Audio.
Nicolaus Bruhns (1665-1697) was famous for improvising duets in a unique fashion: his feet played the pedals of the organ while his hands played virtuosic passages on the violin.
Organ Recital "in progress" - "Fidelis" (Percy Whitlock)
Andrew's online organ recital “in progress” continues!
Fidelis by Percy Whitlock, played by Andrew Adair on the Salisbury Cathedral Hauptwerk sample set by Milan Digital Audio.
One of the most outstanding organists of his time, Percy Whitlock (1903-1946) was equally gifted as a composer. Undoubtedly music of the period, Whitlock’s compositions were designed to be tuneful, colourful, and entertaining. His Fidelis (from Four extemporizations) beautifully shows off the softer stops of the organ, and is dedicated to Charles F.W. Keel.
