Our own local author presents!

Parishioner Paul Russell is the author of  Through Woods on Water, a historical fiction account of the life of Étienne Brûlé as it might have been.  Brûlé, an explorer, was mentored by Samuel de Champlain and lived with the Huron during the 17th century. Many French missionaries, including Saint Jean de Brebeuf, followed him to Huronia and would eventually die at the hands of the Huron. This session will be offered both in person in the lounge at SMM and live streamed via Youtube.

Archeology!

Here’s an insiders view. Our next lecture is on Tuesday, June 10th and will be given by Iris Liu. Iris graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2015 with a B.A.(Hons) in History and Archaeology of Greece, Rome and the Near East. Iris's excavation experience includes several major sites in Israel dating to the Middle Bronze Age. From Old Testament to New Testament, we will explore ways in which archaeology has affected the way in which we understand the Bible, and which types of questions archaeology can and cannot answer. This talk will also be live-streamed at: https://youtube.com/live/bPLtzOLu00s
