Olivier Messiaen's (1908-1992) Prière du Christ montant vers son Père is the final movement of L'Ascension. Originally written for orchestra, Messiaen completed an organ version (with a new third movement) in 1933-1934.

Sir George Dyson (1883-1964) studied at the Royal College of Music, and in Italy in Germany through the Mendelssohn Scholarship. He served as Director of the Royal College of Music, and founded the National Federation of Music Societies. Outside of music, Dyson was well-known as the author of a training pamphlet on the use of hand grenades, written during his time in the Royal Fusiliers.

The Fanfare is one of the Five short pieces written by Healey Willan (1880-1968) in 1957-1958 for the dedication of the organ in St. Matthew’s Ottawa by Gerald Wheeler in 1959.
